Redcoast Terms of Use

Welcome to Redcoast, an online information resource dedicated to showcasing the lifestyle, culture, events, and businesses of North Canterbury, New Zealand. By accessing or using the Redcoast platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms govern your access to and use of the Platform, including all content, features, and services provided by Redcoast. We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on the platform. Your continued use of the platform after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. 

2. Eligibility

Redcoast is intended for general public use. By accessing it, you represent that:

  • You are at least 13 years of age (or older if required by applicable law). 
  • You will use the Platform for lawful purposes only and in accordance with these Terms.

3. Purpose of the Platform

Redcoast serves as an online blog and information hub, providing articles, guides, event listings, local business spotlights, and other resources to inform and inspire residents and visitors of North Canterbury. The platform may also feature advertisements and sponsored content to support its operations. 

4. Permitted Use

You may use the platform for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as reading articles, exploring local recommendations, and sharing content socially with proper attribution. You agree not to:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify platform content without our prior written consent.
  • Use the platform for any illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purpose, including harassment, defamation, or fraud. 
  • Use automated systems (e.g., bots, scrapers) to access or extract data from the platform without our express permission.
  • Interfere with the platform’s functionality, security, or performance (e.g., through hacking or introducing malicious code).

5. Intellectual Property

  • Our Content: All content on the platform—including text, images, graphics, logos, and design elements—is owned by Redcaost or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not use, reproduce, or distribute this content without our written permission, except for personal sharing with proper credit to the platform. 
  • Third-Party Content: Some content may be provided by third parties (e.g., advertisers, contributors). Such content remains the property of its respective owners, and your use of it is subject to any additional terms they impose.

6. Advertising and Sponsored Content

  • Nature of Ads: The platform may feature advertisements, sponsored articles, or promotional content from third parties, such as local businesses or organizations. These are clearly identified as “advertisements,” “sponsored,” or similar labels where required by law or industry standards (e.g., Advertising Standards Authority guidelines in New Zealand). 
  • No Endorsement: Inclusion of advertisements or sponsored content does not imply our endorsement, approval, or verification of the products, services, or claims made therein. We are not responsible for the accuracy, quality, or legality of advertised offerings. 
  • Your Interactions: Any transactions or engagements with advertisers (e.g., clicking links, purchasing goods) are solely between you and the third party. We are not liable for any resulting disputes, losses, or damages.

7. User Submissions

While the platform does not feature user accounts, you may submit feedback, suggestions, or inquiries via contact forms or email. By doing so: 

  • You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, and publish your submission (e.g., featuring a reader’s tip in an article) with attribution where appropriate. 
  • You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, offensive, or infringes on others’ rights.
  • We reserve the right to review, edit, or reject submissions at our discretion.

  • Content: Information on the platform (e.g., lifestyle tips, event details, business listings) is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional advice (e.g., legal, medical, financial). We do not guarantee its accuracy or timeliness. 
  • Technical: We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law: 

  • Redcoast, its affiliates, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including loss of data, profits, or opportunities.
  • Our total liability, if any, will not exceed NZD $100.
  • This applies even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Redcoast, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Platform or violation of these Terms. 

13. Termination of Access

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Platform at our sole discretion, without notice, if we believe your use violates these Terms, harms the Platform, or for any other reason we deem necessary.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures in providing the platform due to events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, power outages, or internet disruptions.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  • These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. 
  • Any disputes arising from your use of the platform will be resolved in the courts of Christchurch, New Zealand, unless otherwise required by law. 
  • You agree to attempt informal resolution with us before pursuing legal action.

16. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. 

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and North Canterbury Lifestyle Hub regarding your use of the Platform, superseding any prior agreements or understandings.
